The Sierra Norte of Oaxaca is a stunning area, considered by the World Wildlife Fund as “a unique destination due to the biologic richness of the area.” Zapotrek, partnered with Expeciones Sierra Norte, is excited to offer many package options allowing you to experience the beauty of this incredible region, while learning about the rich history of this Zapotec community.

Located between 2,000 – 3,200 meters (6,500-10,000 feet) of altitude, Pueblos Mancomunados, is a community organization responsible for integrating more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) of rural trails designed especially for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. These trails allow visitors to witness the most relevant and beautiful aspects of the Sierra Norte, while supporting the efforts of the local community.

We offer one (1) to seven (7) day, all inclusive, packages each offering a unique experience. From the hospitality of "la gente de las nubes" (the people of the clouds), to the unique beauty of the region, you will witness the abundant flora and fauna inhabiting the seven (7) different types of vegetation existing in the Sierra Norte. In addition, you will learn about the local (responsible) uses of natural resources and the community’s efforts to ensure forest conservation.
